A 1997 Drake University graduate will be part of this weekend’s big game in Atlanta as the Los Angeles Rams face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII. Brendan Daly, AS’97, is the defensive line coach for the New England Patriots, and will have a chance to win his third Super Bowl ring Sunday.
After completing his playing career at Drake in 1997, Daly launched his collegiate coaching career in 1998 as the Bulldog’s tight ends coach. Since then he’s leapt from Drake Stadium to the big leagues, working with the Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Rams prior to joining the Patriots.
Daly isn’t the only Drake alum to pursue a career in coaching at an elite level. Chris Ash, head football coach at Rutgers University; Dave Doeren, head football coach at North Carolina State University; and Charlie Partridge, assistant head coach / defensive line at University of Pittsburgh, all played football at Drake where they also held their first collegiate football positions.
Drake commends all of its Bulldogs who have taken on leadership roles on the gridiron.
