Alumna, Mary C. Brooks has brought to life a new children’s program at the West Des Moines Public Library. Mary earned three degrees from Drake University. In 1974, she earned a BFA in Speech and Communications. In 1979, she earned an MSE in Educational Administration and earned another MSE degree in 1985 in Curriculum and Instruction.
Mary helped create TailTrail which is an interactive, walking trail with weather-proof book stations. It allows park-goers to walk along and read a children’s book near the library pond. The TaleTrail is located along the walking trail around the pond on West Des Moines City Campus and across Mills Civic Parkway in Ashawa Park.
The program is dedicated to West Des Moines Valley Principal Dr. Robert C. Brooks. The unveiling ceremony will be held Tuesday, August 23 at 5 p.m. at the SW corner of the West Des Moines Library. The event is open to the public.
