Drake University hosted its eighth annual Marketing Speed Networking event on Thursday, March 3, in Parents Hall, Olmsted Center. Approximately 50 professionals from the Des Moines area, ranging from entry-level marketers to top executives in a variety of industries, made connections with 70 Drake marketing students.
The event was arranged so students could network with up to 10 professionals each in seven-minute sessions. The atmosphere buzzed with energy as students eagerly made their way around the room, building valuable connections with the professionals who were excited to share their knowledge and experience.
“Marketing Speed Networking is a great event to connect with marketing professionals in the Des Moines area,” said Katie Allen, a senior marketing major“I’ve attended the event for four years and it has been one of the best opportunities to get connected with such knowledgeable people in the community.”
The Marketing Speed Networking Event is made possible by the contributions of the Drake College of Business and Public Administration and the Drake American Marketing Association chapter.
“Many of the connections formed during this event lead to mentoring relationships, internships and full-time marketing positions,” said Mary Edrington, associate professor of practice in marketing and faculty advisor for Drake AMA.
