Brooke Miller Axiotis, LW’12, Noreen Otto, LW’06, and Mike Richards, LW’01, have been selected to the 2016 Forty Under 40 list by the Business Record.
The annual list honors local business leaders under the age of 40 who have “demonstrated impressive career achievements and unparalleled community involvement.”

Axiotis is a civil rights specialist with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, which investigates and litigates discrimination complaints in the state of Iowa. She joined the Iowa State Board of Education in 2014 and serves on a national board for the National Association of State Boards of Education. Axiotis is also involved in community activities such as the Junior League of Des Moines, Urban Ag Academy, and Links, Inc.

Otto is assistant vice president of government relations at Hy-Vee, Inc., where she works throughout the Midwest on issue areas ranging from taxation to transportation to pharmacy. Otto was named to Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery list in 2013, and she also served on the Newton City Council from 2011 to 2016.

Richards is a senior shareholder of the Davis Brown Law Firm and serves as chair of the firm’s Insurance Defense Department and Product Liability Department. His litigation practice has focused on all stages of complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on defense litigation. Richards also volunteers and serves on the board of directors for several non-profit entities in central Iowa.
A total of 680 honorees have been named to the Forty Under 40 list since the Des Moines-based publication began the awards in 2000.
The 2016 honorees will be profiled in the March 18 edition of the Business Record and recognized at an awards presentation on March 30.
