Drake PR program earns Certification in Education for Public Relations

Senior Class 2014-2015

The Drake University Public Relations program has received the prestigious Certification in Education for Public Relations (CEPR), a designation earned by only 34 PR programs in the world. The process included a curriculum review and program self-study, a comprehensive application, and a site team visit in the Spring. Drake will be honored at a luncheon at the PRSA International Conference in Washington, D.C., in October.

To receive certification, CEPR applicants must meet tough standards in the following areas: curriculum that prepares students for excellence in the industry; faculty, resources, and facilities that allow for superior education; outstanding students; strong community and professional affiliations; strict standards to measure success; a strong university and school; and an emphasis on diversity and global perspectives.

“This is an important milestone for the Drake PR program,” said Dr. Kelly Bruhn, APR, Drake assistant professor of public relations. “The process confirmed something many in this region have known for some time – the education students receive at Drake is among the best PR preparation in the world. Thanks to alumni, faculty and friends of the program for years of continued support of the Drake program. We share this honor with you.”
