The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) held its annual “Day on the Hill” in Washington, D.C. on June 11 and 12. Representatives from institutions of higher education from across the country met with senators and representatives to discuss upcoming legislation that addresses teacher preparation programs.
The AACTE’s Iowa chapter received a grant to sponsor a current graduate or young professional in education who would benefit from the association’s teacher preparation program. William Battistone, ED’11, GR’14, and current Ed.D. student, was chosen out of 11 applicants from across the state to represent Drake University and the other 32 institutions of higher education in the state of Iowa with teacher preparation programs.
Battistone stated, “It was an extremely rewarding, educational, and all-around great trip! I am honored to have been given the chance to represent Drake and the state of Iowa at the Day on the Hill!”
