Adult Literacy Center Receives Grant

The Drake University Adult Literacy Center (ALC@DU) received a grant for $5000 from the Gannett Foundation/The Des Moines Register.

This grant will assist ALC@DU sustain and expand the reach of their services, provide a variety of learning options to adults in the greater Des Moines area, and support volunteers with excellent training and professional development. Many ALC@DU students are proud to declare, “now I read the paper everyday!”

The next Adult Literacy Center Tutor Training is scheduled for Friday, January 31, 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, February 1, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Volunteer applications can be found at the Adult Literacy Center Tutor website.  Contact Anne Murr with questions at anne.murr@drake.edu or 515-271-3982.
