Drake Law was recently chosen as a Top 10 Best Value Private Law School by preLaw Magazine, a National Jurist publication. The National Jurist magazine analyzes, “tuition, cost of living expenses, bar passage rates, debt accumulation and employment success” to determine which schools rise to the top in overall value.
Drake Law, once again, proves to be a best value private law school.
Drake’s position on this list comes directly from the benefit of location and the success of each graduating class. Between the low cost of living and a thriving legal community in Des Moines, it’s no wonder that Drake Law is a “best value.” Des Moines is ranked a “Top 40 City in Buying Power for New Lawyers” by National Association of Law Placement, named “#1 Best Place for Business and Careers” as well as “#1 Best Place in U.S. for Young Professionals” by Forbes in August of 2013.
Year after year, bar examination passage rates for Drake Law graduates surpass 90%. Success in passing the bar easily translates to job placement. For the class of 2012, 90% were employed within nine months of graduation, compared to 82% nationally.
“We know that it’s important that we do everything possible to keep the price of a Drake legal education affordable,” says Drake Law School Dean Allan Vestal. “This confirms that our many efforts are meeting with success.”
Being able to get through law school without taking on large amounts of debt is a key to getting graduates started in the right foot in their legal career.
“Doing so opens up opportunities for them to practice in the ways that they wish,” says Vestal.
According to preLaw Magazine, the Best Value ranking is designed to “find the law schools where graduates have excellent chances of passing the bar and getting a legal job without taking on a ton of debt.” Without question, Drake Law School makes the list.
