The Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship and the Drake University School of Education are sponsoring a concert at Sheslow Auditorium on Friday, November 30 at 8:00 p.m.. Increase your global understanding and hear an inspirational message of the SFEL choir, a group of refugee students from Burundi.
The choir is led by Drake’s own Vincent Niyokwizera, a student in the Actuarial Science program. Hear about the choir members’ flight from the war and life in refugee camps. Learn how many of the students lived in fear; lived with hunger; and never knew what clean running water was. Hear how they adapted to Iowa schools, learning English, and coping with a new culture.
This event is free and open to the public.
