Rika Uchida, associate professor of piano and theory, will give a two-piano recital on Sept. 9 with fellow pianist Mio Aoike, adjunct instructor at Eastern Oregon University. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will take place in Sheslow Auditorium at 4:30 p.m.
The program features music for two pianos by Milhaud, Rachmaninoff, de Falla, and Infante.This will be Uchida’s second performance with Aoike at Drake. The duo’s previous concert, in 2006, was Uchida’s first performance at Drake.
Uchida has performed around the world, most recently in Malaysia and Beijing this year. She has presented master classes around the United States and at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang, Malaysia. The Japan native specializes in music theory and performance and in music by Claude Debussy, performing a series of solo piano recitals titled “Music of Claude Debussy—from ‘Romantic to Modern Sound.'”
