Mark your calendars for Saturday, Aug. 11, when Drake University takes over the Iowa State Fair. Drake Day at the Fair is an all-day celebration of everything Drake; come visit us as we showcase how the University has influenced the state of Iowa. Since Drake’s founding in 1881, the University and its graduates have helped move Iowa forward and played a part in making the state a great place to live, work, and play.
Fair visitors can pick up free fans, water bottles, and reusable bags (while supplies last); show their Bulldog pride with temporary tattoos; and learn fun facts about the University and Iowa at Drake’s tent on Rock Island Avenue across from Pella Plaza.
Drake athletics fans will also have the opportunity to meet Bulldog student-athletes, get their autographs, and take photos with Drake’s mascot, Spike. Drake student-athletes and coaches will visit the tent at various times throughout the day to sign free, limited edition posters.
In addition to Drake Day on Aug. 11, the University will have a display in the William C. Knapp Varied Industries Building throughout the fair, which runs from Aug. 9–19.
