The Iowa Arts Council recently awarded $1,000 to Kirk Martin, director of Drake’s Chinese Cultural Exchange Program, for a fine arts faculty exchange between Drake and two Chinese universities.
Professors from Minzu University in Bejing and Hebei Vocational Arts College in Shijiazhuang will visit Drake to offer master classes, lectures and performances; Drake professors will do the same at those universities. The Drake professors who will take part in the program are Leanne Freeman-Miller, associate professor of voice; Rika Uchida, assistant professor of piano; and Karla Kash, assistant professor of theatre.
The Chinese Cultural Exchange Program facilitates exchanges of faculty, students and graduates between Drake University and educational institutions in China. For more information, contact Kirk Martin at 515-271-3035.
