Tim Haughton, an Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation Fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations, will give a lecture on the European Union May 2 at 7 p.m. The lecture, “An SUV on a Road to Nowhere? Solidarity, Unanimity and Vulnerability in the European Union,” will be held at Bulldog Theater in the Olmsted Center and is free and open to the public. The Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship is hosting the event.
In addition to his work for the Center for Transatlantic Relations at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, he is the co-editor of the Journal of Common Market Studies Annual Review of the European Union. His research examines party politics in Central and Eastern Europe. Haughton is an associate professor in the politics of Central and Eastern Europe at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. He has taught at several universities and has held visiting fellowships at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna, the Institute of International Relations in Prague and at Harvard University’s Center for European Studies.
