New Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Technology

Dean McMahill, on behalf of the School of Education, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Tonia J. Land as Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Technology. Dr. Land is a former elementary mathematics, science, and technology teacher. Recently, Dr. Land completed her doctorate degree in mathematics education at Iowa State University where she worked on a five-year National Science Foundation grant and taught elementary mathematics methods courses. Her current research interests include preparing pre-service elementary school teachers to teach mathematics with a focus on their use of Standards-based curriculum materials and teachers’ responses to children’s mathematical thinking through problem posing.
