Five SJMC students were awarded their Bachelor of Arts degrees at the mid-year commencement Dec. 17. It was Drake’s first mid-year commencement since 1969 and combined the awarding of specialist, doctorate, master and bachelor degrees.
Earning degrees in journalism and mass communication are:
- Kristin Kowalski, a magazine major who also received a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Arts and Sciences. Kowalski graduated summa cum laude.
- Goizane Mullin, a public relations major, who graduated magna cum laude.
- Mary Bess Bolling, a news-Internet major.
- Kelsey Harger, a public relations major.
- Kirk Wagner, a public relations major.
President David Maxwell and Greg Larson, student body president, delivered remarks. Gary Wade, a retired associate professor of journalism, announced the names of all the graduates. SJMC Director Kathleen Richardson served as student marshal.
