Guest flute recital to feature contemporary compositions

, principal flutist of the Central Wisconsin Symphony Orchestra, will perform a guest recital at Drake University on Thursday, March 24.

The concert, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 8 p.m. on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium, 2507 University Ave.

Pianist Michael Keller, professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, will accompany Hobbs. The duo will perform works by contemporary composers, including a piece written by Cynthia Folio that was commissioned and dedicated to Hobbs.

Hobbs, who also serves as assistant professor of flute and musicianship at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, is a Des Moines native. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, her master’s degree from Baylor University and her doctorate from Northwestern University.
