Sam Hodge will soon be taking a bite out of the “Big Apple”. Hodge recently accepted an offer for the position of Assistant District Attorney for the Bronx, NY, starting after his expected graduation in May.

Hodge attributes his ability to receive an interview and ultimately obtain an offer for this highly competitive position to the numerous experiential learning opportunities that Drake Law afforded him, making him stand out as an applicant.

“While at Drake Law, I worked in the criminal clinic, competed on the mock trial team and did an internship with the Polk County Attorney’s Office. I was fortunate enough to argue multiple motions to suppress and have two jury trials as a student prosecutor. My experiences on both sides of the aisle—as a public defender and prosecutor—have given me valuable perspective and enhanced my ability to be an effective litigator.”

During Hodge’s job search, he worked closely with the Career Development Office which he says “was a great resource in the application process and was instrumental in preparing (him) for interviews.”

Hodge will eventually manage his own cases, and then move to increasingly more complex cases as he becomes a more experienced district attorney.
