The Distinctly Drake campaign reached a new level with another gift from a generous School of Education Alumnus. Dean McMahill received a check for $100,000 from Carmen Illinois resident Joan Gerling with a note that simply said, “I want to do everything that I can to help with a new education building.” In the last three years, Ms. Gerling has donated over $300,000 and…in her own words, “I hope to do more.” This is one example of the momentum surrounding this campaign initiative. The Dean will be traveling this spring with Senior Advancement Officer Meaghan Tigges to attend alumni events in Florida, Minnesota, California and Arizona. To date, $6.42 million of the $15 million total has been pledged or received. The campaign has also received a generous bequest of $2 million for scholarships from a Drake School of Education graduate. Thanks to one and all. Be prepared when the Dean comes calling!
