Writers invited to read from their work

Local writers are invited to join Drake students, faculty, staff and alumni in sharing their writing at the University’s Writers’ Night on Thursday, Dec. 3.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Honors Lounge at Medbury Hall, 2730 Forest Avenue. It is part of Drake’s Writers and Critics Series, which is sponsored by Drake’s English Department and its Center for the Humanities.

Local writers and critics are invited to share their recent poems or short fiction, drama or essay. Participants are asked to limit their readings to 10 minutes each. The aim of the event is to foster discussion of writing and scholarship between the Drake and Des Moines communities.

The Writers and Critics Series will continue throughout the academic year. The next presentation will feature poet and editor Deborah Ager on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cowles Library Reading Room, 2725 University Ave.
