Lecture to explore effects of globalization on religions

World religion and globalization expert Peter Beyer will give a lecture at Drake University on Tuesday, Sept. 29, on “The Resurgence of Religion Under Globalization: Optics and Realities.”

The talk will begin at 7 p.m. in the Bulldog Theater in Olmsted Center, 2875 University Ave. It is free and open to the public.

Beyer, professor at the University of Ottawa in Canada, holds a doctorate in sociology of religion and is an expert in globalization, world religions and global systems.

His research focuses on religious diversity and multiculturalism in Canada, especially with regards to the second generation of recent immigrants to Canada.
