Faculty recital to feature American art songs and arias

Soprano Christine Blanner, a teaching artist in voice with the Drake University Music Department, will give a recital at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 2507 University Ave. The recital is free and open to the public.

Blanner will perform a collection of various American art songs and arias, including works by Previn, Hagen and Conte.

Blanner graduated from Drake University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Music and obtained her Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music in 2006.

Later this year, Blanner will perform the role of Ruth in “The Sparks Fly Upward” by Drake law professor and classically trained musician Cathy Lesser Mansfield.
