‘Night of Stars’ features Drake music and theater faculty

Drake University’s second annual “Night of Stars” concert on Friday, Sept. 12, will showcase performances by selected Drake music and theater faculty.

The concert, sponsored by Friends of Drake Arts, will begin at 7:30 p.m. on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 2507 University Ave.

“This is the only time we all get to perform together during the year,” said Leanne Freeman-Miller, associate professor of voice. “It’s a very fun concert.”

Participating faculty members are:

  • Edward Corpus, bass
  • Ann Cravero, mezzo-soprano
  • Leanne Freeman-Miller, soprano
  • Karla Kash, mezzo-soprano
  • Leslie Marrs, flute
  • Grady McGrannahan, trombone
  • Bruce Perry, baritone
  • Sarah Plum, violin
  • Ashley Sidon, cello
  • Rika Uchida, piano

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students, senior citizens and those with a Drake I.D. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance through the Drake Fine Arts Box Office at 515-271-3841.

Following the concert, a reception for Friends of Drake Arts members will be held in the Anderson Gallery, Harmon Fine Arts Center. The gallery will be open for viewing of the exhibit “America Imagines Chinese: 19th Century Advertising Trade Cards and the American Imagination.”
