Drake junior Steven Amos and his brother, Brian, a student at Cornell University, have launched a nationwide student films festival that will roll from coast to coast this summer.

As their Web site, http://www.studentfilmsacrossamerica.com/, says, “We’re giving student filmmakers from around the world an unparalleled opportunity — their film, seen by thousands, in 50 cities across the country. The festival organizers will be riding a tour bus named Vivian, starting in their home state of Wisconsin and ending in Los Angeles for an awards presentation…Each city will have its own local featured student filmmaker.”

Drake’s Office of Alumni and Parent Programs helped Steven recruit Drake alumni John August, JO’92, scriptwriter for “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Big Fish” and other movies, and “Lost” actor Michael Emerson, FA’76, to serve as judges for the festival. The judges will select the best films for a number of entry categories, including a $10,000 “Best of Fest” award.

Tour dates, cities and other information about the festival is on its Web site. All Drake alumni and friends are encouraged to attend.
