The fourth annual Drake University Conference on Undergraduate Research in the Sciences (DUCURS) will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in Parents Hall, Olmsted Center.

The conference will feature several 15-minute student oral presentations and poster presentations on current research projects by students and faculty. Following the presentations, awards will be given to the top two presenters.

A luncheon held for student and faculty participants will honor Rodney Rogers, LA’49, GR’51, professor of biology, for his 51 years of service at Drake. Special notes of thanks and recognition on behalf of Rogers will be collected and presented. To share any special memories, please send an e-mail to marilea.chase@drake.edu.

Students and faculty will participate from all of Drake’s science departments and programs, including biology, chemistry, chemistry, physics, environmental science and policy, psychology, mathematics and computer science, BCMB and BSPS. Attendees and participants will have the chance to win door prizes donated by local businesses.

“Our students are doing a terrific job, and the best way to see that is by talking to them and listening to them,” said Maria Bohorquez, director of the Drake Undergraduate Science Collaborative Institute. “It’s just amazing how confident they are when they describe their research.”
