Journalism school publications win 25 state awards

Drake University student publications The Times-Delphic, Urban Plains and Drake Magazine won a total of 25 awards, including nine first-place honors, in the Iowa College Media Association contest on February 5.

The Times-Delphic student newspaper won 10 awards:

First place

  • Investigative story, Sarah Fulton
  • Headline writing, Courtney Fishman

Second place

  • News photo, Cody Frost
  • Social media, Tim Webber, Courtney Fishman and Jake Bullington

Third place

  • Headline writing, Austin Cannon
  • Interactive graphic, Paityn Langley
  • Page 1 design, Michael Lopez, Jessica Lynk and Claudia Williams

Honorable Mention

  • News story, Giuliana LaMantia
  • Sports feature, Andrew Beall
  • Opinion writing, Tim Webber

Urban Plains, produced by the spring 2015 journalism capstone, won eight awards:
