Guess who is showing up on local TV

Students aren’t the only ones keeping busy during January Term. Professor Grace Provenzano, who has extensive experience as a broadcast journalist, has been doing some reporting for KCCI-TV in Des Moines.

Invitation to free film festival

Define American, a national organization dedicated to promoting discussion of immigration issues, is hosting a film festival this week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Des Moines Art Center. The festival includes a variety of documentaries and narrative films, followed by panel discussions featuring actors, filmmakers, activists and journalists.

Tickets are free (RSVP using your drake.edu account), but make reservations through this link. There will be free snacks, and all festival attendees will also be invited to a free closing night reception on Saturday at Sticks.

SJMC dean’s assistant Carla McCrea is retiring on Feb. 10 after 28 years at Drake. Come wish her well at a reception on Friday, Feb. 5, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the back lobby of Meredith Hall.
