Elementary School in Toronto, CanadaEducational Leadership Professors, Dr. Buckmiller and Dr. Grundmeyer recently led a group of 12 graduate students from three difference educational leadership cohort into Toronto, Canada Schools.  The Toronto Public School system was chosen for the trip because it is one of the most diverse in the world while high functioning in regard to levels of student achievement.  The group visited multiple schools (both elementary and secondary) and saw first-hand how Toronto school leaders embrace diversity, promote a school culture of learning, use data to guide decision-making, model a growth mindset, and served as model for school reform.  EDL Students Visit Niagara FallsThe group also made time to engage in cultural activities that included eating local cuisine, visiting the CN Tower and Niagara Falls.  Students reported real insight into new models of leadership and a clear recognition of how diversity in schools can be leveraged to promote high levels of learning for all students.
