Drake Law’s IP Law program ranked among top 25 in nation

Drake Law School is home to one of the nation’s 25 top Intellectual Property Law programs, according to U.S. News and World Report.

U.S. News recently released its 2016 Best Graduate Programs rankings, placing Drake’s Intellectual Property Law program at No. 23 in the nation for overall quality. The college ranking has included Drake’s IP law program among the nation’s top 25 programs for seven years in a row.

Drake Law also retained its top-tier overall status among the nation’s law schools. Among the graduating class of 2013, 94.5 percent of test-takers passed the Iowa Bar Exam on their first try. Drake Law’s job placement rate for graduates was higher than the national average, including for positions requiring bar passage or for which a J.D. is preferred.

Working professionals who wish to pursue a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) now have additional options. Drake Law recently announced evening and part-time course offerings that allow greater flexibility for working professionals who wish to pursue a J.D. or M.J. degree for the fall 2015 semester.

Drake Law’s M.J. is designed for students who wish to gain knowledge of the law in order to enhance their professional career. Most candidates attend classes on a part-time basis, but an M.J. degree can be taken on a full-time basis and completed in one year. Students can receive an M.J. in health law, intellectual property law, or individualized legal studies. M.J. candidates in individualized legal studies can devise a curriculum tailored to their needs, or study concentrations in business law, criminal law, estate planning, legislative practice and government relations, intellectual property, or sustainable development.

J.D. applicants must complete the application materials and submit an LSAT score (www.lsac.org) in order to be considered for admission. The next available date to take the LSAT is June 8, and the deadline to register for that exam is May 1.

Application instructions for the M.J. program, which does not require an LSAT score, can be found at www.law.drake.edu/admissions.
