Drake University welcomed into CFA Institute University Recognition Program

The Drake University College of Business and Public Administration (CBPA) is the most recent university to be welcomed into the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute University Recognition Program.

The B.S./B.A. major in finance, the B.S./B.A. joint major in actuarial science and finance, and the B.S./B.A. joint major in accounting and finance programs have been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. According to the CFA Institute, these programs position students well to obtain the CFA designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

“In Drake’s College of Business and Public Administration, we promise to bring the world into the classroom and the classroom into the world,” says Terri Vaughan, interim dean of CBPA. “This is just one more example of how we do that by integrating theory and practice.”

This recognition allows each of the programs to be listed on the CFA Institute website as well as allows Drake to award five CFA Program Awareness Scholarships to students each fiscal year.

“Students in these programs study the Candidate Body of Knowledge, which includes the core knowledge, skills, and abilities identified by practitioners worldwide as essential for successful practice,” says Charles Appeadu, Ph.D., CFA, and head of university relations at the CFA Institute. “By mastering the fundamentals of the CFA Program as well as the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct, these future investment professionals gain a strong foundation that helps prepare them well to join the growing CFA Institute community dedicated to promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence for the ultimate benefit of society.”
