Drake University is pleased to announce a $200,000 gift from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust to renovate physics laboratories in Harvey Ingham Hall.
Nearly 350 Drake students use the physics labs in Harvey Ingham Hall every year. The generous gift from the Carver Trust will help modernize the spaces, making them more accessible to students with disabilities, more multi-functional, and more technologically advanced.
“Enhancing our science facilities is a major goal of the distinctlyDrake campaign,” says Joseph Lenz, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. “We are indeed grateful to the Carver Trust for their generous investment in our students and the future of science education.”
Additionally, the renovation of the labs is expected to increase the number of students interested in pursuing science degrees as well as draw more of the Midwest’s most talented future scientists, science teachers, and health care professionals to Iowa.
Over the years, the Carver Trust has remained a dedicated partner to Drake University, providing gifts to improve facilities and scholarships for worthy students. The most recent project the Carver Trust supported was the creation of the Cline Atrium in 2013.

About the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust
The Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust is one of the largest private philanthropic foundations in Iowa. The trust was created through the will of Roy J. Carver, a Muscatine industrialist and philanthropist, who died in 1981. During his lifetime, Carver was especially interested in helping young people receive an education, as well as supporting research activities to advance scientific knowledge and improve human health.
