Drake piano professor and students to kick off concert series

Nicholas Roth, associate professor of piano, and Drake piano students will present the inaugural concert in the Keys to Excellence Piano Concert Series 2013-2014. Roth will share the stage with student performers Sara Choi, Elena Clark, Sarah Hughes, Brian Kalina, Esther Lim, Daniel Scheetz, Sarah Thune and Di Zhang. The concert will take place Monday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium.

The Keys to Excellence Piano Concert Series was created to raise awareness of Drake’s fundraising efforts for the purchase of 70 new Yamaha pianos for the music department. Keys to Excellence features internationally acclaimed artists performing on the magnificent YAMAHA CFX concert grand, an instrument that debuted in 2010 to rave reviews for its revolutionary sonorous clarity and extensive tonal range. The YAMAHA CFX was recently purchased for Drake University through the generous support of Sally B. Bartlett, who will be recognized at Ilia Radoslavov’s concert on Dec. 8. Yamaha, West Music, Civic Music Association, and Drake University, sponsor the concert series.
