On Oct. 30, Benard Wabukala, Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Drake University, will present “Business Opportunities in Emerging Africa.” This event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7 p.m. in the Sussman Theater of the Olmsted Center. The lecture is part of the Fall 2013 Speaker and Film Series co-sponsored by the College of Business and Public Administration and the Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship.

Wabukala comes to Drake from Makerere University Business School in Uganda, where he teaches development economics, macroeconomics, and regional economic integration. He is interested in topics such as productivity and efficiency, food security, trade, and economic development of sub-Saharan Africa. Wabukala is co-teaching a graduate level course in Drake’s College of Business and Public Administration that emphasizes economic growth in Africa. He is also helping business professors supplement macroeconomic and business lessons on African economies into undergraduate courses.

The Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship aims to educate students on global topics so that they can effectively adapt and thrive in different cultural settings. The Center also works to guarantee that global perspectives and issues are a key part of the educational and cultural experience of everyone in the Drake community. The center sponsors over 35 on-campus events per year.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact David Skidmore at david.skidmore@drake.edu, or 515-271-3843.
