Iowa Certified Public Manager Program receives national accreditation

The College of Business and Public Administration is pleased to announce the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program was granted national accreditation in September.

“The Center for Professional Studies is pleased to be the State of Iowa’s educational partner of this nationally accepted public sector leadership credential,” says Lance Noe, director of the Center for Professional Studies. “Accreditation reflects well on Drake’s Master of Public Administration faculty who, working with the State of Iowa, developed the curriculum and facilitates the Certified Public Manager program.”

The Iowa Certified Public Manager Program (ICPM) is a nationally accredited professional certification for public sector managers and directors. The curriculum was developed in a collaborative effort between Drake’s Center for Professional Studies and the Iowa Department of Administration Services/Human Resources Enterprise in 2003. The 18-month program provides a chance for students to apply and integrate classroom learning with the real world of public management.

Nearly 500 Iowa public sector professionals serving in city, state, and national government positions have completed the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program at Drake University. The program features 300 hours of facilitated study at the Drake University Center for Professional Studies plus a final major project which is presented to the public at the conclusion of the 18-month program.
