Drake professor speaks at Investor Protection Trust Forum in Des Moines

Joan McAlister, associate professor of rhetoric and communication studies, will speak on the appeal of visual rhetoric in investment advertisements at the 2013 Investor Protection Trust (IPT) Forum this week. The forum is being held Sept. 12-15 at the Embassy Suites in downtown Des Moines.

The forum, “Celebrating Collaboration in Investor Education and Protection,” will bring together leaders and experts in the areas of investor education and protection, partnerships, economic security, social sciences, motivation, and communication. McAlister and other expert facilitators will be utilized to lead breakout and small group discussions that will aim to review how far U.S. organizations have come with regards to investor education and protection. Sessions will also look at what needs to be done in the future to ensure all Americans have the information they need to make wise investment decisions.

The forum is being hosted by the Iowa Insurance Division, in cooperation with IPT and the Iowa Protection Institute (IPI) in recognition of the 20th anniversary of IPT’s work to protect investors.
