Drake hosts Strung Out Trio on March 15

One of the most unique performances of Drake’s fine arts calendar will grace Sheslow Auditorium this week. The violin, guitar and piano group Strung Out Trio will kick off their free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15, with original pieces — commissioned by and for them — in a wide range of styles.

The internationally touring trio is composed of the violinist Beth Ilana Schneider-Gould, guitarist Dr. Matthew Gould and pianist Nathanael May. Schneider-Gould and Gould also perform and record as Duo46, and have gained national recognition for their work.

Strung Out Trio formed in 2002 and released their debut album in 2008 to critical acclaim and four Grammy Contentions. The group has performed in Turkey, Cyprus, and Italy, as well as many esteemed universities and colleges in the United States.

Before hitting the stage, the group will host a masterclass for Drake’s aspiring musicians. The session will allow Drake students to interact and learn from the group on a one-to-one basis.
