Drake alumna to perform guest flute recital

Drake University will host a guest recital by alumna Emily Sapa, principal flutist with the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra, on Sunday, March 27.

The concert will begin at 5 p.m. on the Jordan Stage in Sheslow Auditorium in Old Main, 2507 University Ave. The event is free and open to the public.

Violist Valerie Little and pianists Leah Siltberg and Jennifer French will accompany Sapa. The program will feature numerous contemporary works, as well as a piece composed by William Dougherty, Drake’s Ellis and Nelle Levitt Professor of Music.

Sapa earned her bachelor’s degree from Drake in 2002 and received her master’s degree from the University of Minnesota.

She has performed with the Duluth-Superior Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Bach Festival Orchestra and the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra. Sapa also serves as a flute instructor at Gustavus Adolphus College, Minnesota State University-Mankato and Martin Luther College.
