School of Education Doctoral Student Awarded AASA Scholarship

News PhotoDrake University School of Education Doctoral candidate Matt Adams was named the recipient of an American Association of School Administrators (AASA) Educational Administration Scholarship. The award going to an outstanding graduate student, is a scholarship in the amount of $2,500 to continue their studies. Each scholarship is given in the name of a former executive director of AASA. Mr. Adam’s scholarship is given in honor of S.D. Shankland.

Mr. Adam’s dissertation is titled: A Content Analysis of the Congruence Between the Evaluation Criteria of Superintendents and the Iowa Standards for School Leaders. Dr. David Darnell, Dissertation Committee Chair commented, “Matt is very deserving of this award. His research will contribute to the body of knowledge surrounding superintendent evaluation. This is a first-rate study, as acknowledged by AASA!”
The award and check will be presented to him at the 2011 National Conference on Education (NCE) in Denver, Colorado on Friday, February 18, 2011 during the AASA Awards Ceremony and Reception from 4:30-6:00 p.m.

The AASA is also providing Mr. Adams a complimentary conference registration $500 towards expenses.
