Alum Elected to AACP Executive Office

ALUM ELECTED TO AACP EXECUTIVE OFFICE

Rod Carter, PH’76, was recently installed as president of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Board of Directors. [http://www.aacp.org/Pages/Default.aspx]

The AACP is a national organization comprised of 112 accredited colleges and schools of pharmacy that represents the interests of pharmacy education and educators.

Carter, who previously served as the organization’s speaker of the house, will hold the executive office for the 2010-2011 term.

He serves as associate dean for professional and external relations at the University of Minnesota, where he has worked since 2001. Previously, he was the inaugural chair of pharmacy practice at Shenandoah University.

Carter also worked at Purdue University as a clinical faculty member and preceptor in pharmacokinetics and cardiology.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Drake, Carter received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota. His research interests include experiential education, program and curriculum development and patient focus in pharmaceutical education.
