Free children’s books at Drake Farmers’ Market

Student volunteers from the Drake University School of Education will be handing out free books to all school aged children that attend the Drake Farmers Market on Wednesday, July 21.  The School of Education has been giving free books to children at the market since 2007.  In 2009, the School of Education handed out 375 free books to children in the community.

First Christian Church, Drake University, and the Drake Neighborhood Association established the market in 1997. The market is open from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 29 in the parking lot of First Christian Church, 2500 University Avenue. Free parking is available for shoppers across from the market on the east side of 25th Street.
