Baker and Davis Earn 2010 Bright Star Awards

Joshua Baker and Elizabeth Davis were the first recipients of the School of Education’s Bright Star Awards for outstanding undergraduate students. Both were recognized during the Mentor Teacher Reception on May 11 in Levitt Hall.

Baker completed his Bachelor of Science in Education: Secondary Education with an endorsement in Science this year. He was nominated by Professor Shelley Fairbairn who wrote that he was an “excellent participant in class discussions.” Baker has been accepted to Des Moines University and plans to become a pediatrician.

Davis  completed her Bachelor of Science in Education: Elementary Education degree this year. She was also nominated by Professor Shelley Fairbairn who noted that she was a “conscientious, detail-oriented student.”

In addition to a certificate, both received a small honorarium funded by the Sproul-Hazlett Estate.
