Drake University's Cowles Library is digitizing a variety of historical items as part of Shelf2Life, a program initiated by the Bibliographical Center for Research.
Shelf2Life helps libraries nationwide to digitize old book collections and documents published before 1923 in an effort to make these materials more readily available and visible to library users.
Cowles Library is contributing materials from a collection of historical items such as music, monographs and drama scripts from the early 1900s.
"The participation of Drake University in the Shelf2Life program supports the library's role in teaching and learning, promoting the aims of information literacy and providing new methods of accessing important content," said Rod Henshaw, dean of Cowles Library.
"The library is excited to be able to extend use of its collections to a wider community through this program."
