The Drake group gathers with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.

Last weekend, 16 Drake University law students traveled to Williamsburg, Va., to attend the American Agricultural Law Association's annual meeting.

The students were accompanied by Neil Hamilton, professor of law and director of Drake's Agricultural Law Center and about a dozen Drake alumni.

While there, the group met with United States Secretary of Agriculture and former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, who served as a keynote speaker during a luncheon.

"The opportunity for our students to attend the conference and talk to agricultural lawyers from across the nation makes a wonderful addition to their education," he added. "Being able to meet our Secretary of Agriculture was extra frosting on the cake."
