An opportunity to support a fellow grad

Angela Day Johnson’s BN’01, senior subcontracts manager with Rockwell Collins residing in Marengo, Iowa, informed Drake that her four-year-old daughter, Rian, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia in February 2007. Johnson invites alumni and friends to join her in raising funds for Chai Life Line, a nonprofit organization that assists Jewish children and their families from around the world that are dealing with childhood cancer and other life-threatening medical conditions.

The organization is looking for people to run on January 27, 2008, in Miami for either a marathon or half marathon distance. Airfare and hotel costs are being taken care of for the runners. Johnson is trying to gather a group of runners from around the Midwest that would be willing to “Run for Rian” in her honor.

Information on the organization and event is available online and this Web site. To see pictures of Rian and read her family’s story, visit  the Web site and put in her care page name, Marengo.

Johnson’s father – Rian’s grandpa – James Johnson is a Drake pharmacy graduate. Alumni are invited to contact Angela Day Johnson directly at 319-741-6213 or amjohns2@rockwellcollins.com.
